Parametric EQ

A ‘Parametric EQ’ is a class of audio equalizer tool. Unlike non-parametric EQs, the parameters of each band are manipulatable.

Typically, these consist of the Center Frequency, Level (boost or cut), and Q (bandwidth). The center frequency determines what frequency the EQ will affect, while the bandwidth (Q) determines how far above and below the center frequency will also be affected.

A Parametric EQ can have more than 3 bands in some cases, and often also include controls for cutting or shelving high and low frequencies.

This is the most common class of EQ found in studios due to their versatility.
